Memorial services for Bennie Lee Jones Sr., formerly of Indianola, were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lakewood Funeral Services in Chicago.
Mr. Jones, 61, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 at his home.
Bennie was born April 25, 1957 in Indianola to Jim Jones and Vanilla Brantley Foster. One of 14 children, he attended school in Indianola before moving to Chicago with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five of his siblings, Frank Hunt, John W. Jones, Eugene Jones, Willie B. Jones and Alex Hunt.
Mr. Jones is survived by two daughters, Angela Jones Terrell (Wuru) and Tara Jones Bieber (Tim), both of Texas; one son, Bennie Lee Jones Jr. of Illinois; the mother of his children, Lenora Jenkins of Texas; his siblings, Fitzgerald Jones of Louisiana, Earnestine Jordan, Lela Hunt (Derick Thomas), Francis Bass (Karl), and Jimmie Porter (Richard), all of Illinois, Eula Howard of Georgia, and Marie Worship (Willie) and Bernice Grove, both of Mississippi; 8 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
