Billie Lee Brown Hayes, 84, of Indianola and formerly of Rolling Fork, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland.
Billie Lee Brown Hayes, affectionately known as “Billie Lee,” was born April 12, 1933 in Waterproof, La. to Oscar Lee and Allie Ashley Brown. She married William Monroe “Bill” Hayes on April 11, 1951 and together, they made their home in Rolling Fork. Mrs. Hayes worked as a weaver at Delta Elastics in Rolling Fork for 13 years prior to her retirement. She was a loving mother, a hard worker, and was very independent. Mrs. Hayes was a wonderful cook, and no one ever left her house hungry because she fed everyone that visited her. She came to know the Lord within the last two years of her life.
Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Hayes; seven siblings; daughter-in-law, Darlene Hayes; grandson, Trent Tucker; and great-granddaughter, Madelynn Hancock.
She is survived by five children, Shelley Whitenton and husband Jim of Lake, Debbie Davis and husband Randy of Indianola, Mike Hayes of Rolling Fork, Sherry Hayes of Lake, and Wendy Hilmus and husband Denny of Holcomb; ten grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, from 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial followed in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was in charge of arrangements.
