Carol Sue Jones, age 72, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at her home.
Visitation was held Thursday, Feb. 22nd from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Cleveland Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life service following at 11 a.m.
Burial was in Lehrton Cemetery.
The Rev. Greg Chamblee officiated at the services.
Carol Sue was born on Sept. 2, 1945 to Dave and Mattie (Skinner) Jones in Dockery. She lived there all of her life. Carol Sue graduated from Linn High School in 1963 and then attended Mississippi Delta Community College and Delta State University. She went to work for Bell South as a meter maid and operator. She was the first female to climb telephone poles with BellSouth. Carol Sue was a member of Dockery Baptist Church. She loved gardening, spending time with nieces and nephews as well as cooking and reading. She enjoyed her time being the receptionist and greeter at ProTech. Carol Sue was a caregiver to many of her family members.
Carol Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Dave Alonzo and Mattie Mae Jones; her brothers, Jack Jones, Robert Louis Jones and Dave Jones Jr., Bernie Bailey "BB" Jones andCecil C. "Buddy" Jones; and her sisters, Martha Jane Pate, Frances Prewitt, Dorothy Jones Pate and Betty Jean Malatesta.
Carol Sue is survived by her nephew whom she raised, Tony (Kathy) Jones of Cleveland; two sisters, Linda (Larry) Jefcoat of Cleveland and JoAnn Silverblat of New Orleans; and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memory.
Pallbearers were Dane Jones, Kelvin Sumner, Kurt Sumner, Bernie Jones, Oliver "Coot" Jones and Robert Jones Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Haney, Galen Givens, Leon Weeks, Clarence Mallette and Kenny Ray Mallette.
