Carolyn Gerlene Brooks McGaugh, 72, of Indianola, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She was born May 20, 1945 in Shelby and was the daughter of Edgar and Alice Townsend Brooks. She worked in production as a seamstress for Mississippi Industries for the Blind.
Carolyn enjoyed music and singing and played the omnichord. She loved all sports, but baseball was her favorite. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don McGaugh; three brothers, Glen Brooks, Henry Nelson Brooks and Alvis Brooks; and two sisters, Louise Tesche and Mary Lou Hasty.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, John David Brooks and wife Vicky of Lewisport, Ky., and Robert Lee Brooks of Biloxi; sisters, Virnell Durham of Clarksdale, Kathryn Jackson of Vicksburg, and Bonnie Sue Sterling of McGhee, Ark.; and two loving nieces, Shelia Brasier and Debbie Barker.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 4th from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Burton Funeral Home. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
