Charles Earl Whatley, 74, of Moorhead, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at his home.
Charles was born Jan. 3, 1949, in Greenwood, to Charles H. and Juanita Whatley. He was a member of Moorhead Baptist Church.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Juanita Whatley; and two brothers, Ralph Edward Whatley and Bobby Joe Whatley.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Roberta Risner Whatley of Moorhead; his daughter, Meredith Taylor and her husband, Kenneth, of Benoit; and a granddaughter, Shelby Taylor Forman and her husband, Brett, of Tipton, Indiana. Charles is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Reedy and her husband, Bill, of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Margie Makamson and her husband, Joe, of Morgan City; and one brother, Harold E. Whatley and his wife, Lynda, of Indianola. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Moorhead Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Moorhead Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Wayne Oakes, Luther Oakes, Bryan Oakes, Winn Whatley, Watson Cook and Mike Taylor.
