Charles Henry Hancock, Jr., 76, of Holly Ridge, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at his home after a brief illness.
Charles was born Oct. 30, 1941, in Anguilla to Charles Henry and Beatrice Mitchell Hancock. He was a funny person with a dry wit and was a very hard worker. It has been said by his friends that Charles was one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He was good to everybody, and would do anything for anyone. He loved everyone and would give the shirt off his back.
Charles was the farm manager for Holly Ridge Planting Company since February 1974 and worked for them for 44 years. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mable Lanell Hancock; and sister, Lucille Russell.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Polasini Hancock of Holly Ridge; son, Chuck Hancock of Holly Ridge; brother, William Hancock and wife Mary of Doddsville; sister, Velma Kwan and husband Tommy of Indianola; and three grandchildren, Corey Hancock, Mindy Clark, and Chris Bonamour.
The family received friends Saturday, April 28, from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral service at Eastwood Baptist Church, located at 549 Dorsett Drive in Indianola. Burial followed in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with final arrangements.
