David Arant Sr., 66, of Ruleville, went to be with his Savior on Friday, August 18, 2023.
David was born in Greenwood on Sept. 18, 1956, to Hugh Miller Arant Sr. and Kathryn Carver Arant. He graduated from Indianola Academy and continued his education at Mississippi State University where he was on the football team and received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics.
After college he married his beloved wife, Ann Elizabeth, and settled in Ruleville, where he farmed with his family and raised his three children. David was a member and elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, where he loved and served his church family for over forty years.
David found great joy in spending time with his family and leaves behind a legacy that will forever influence his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in passing by his father, Hugh Miller Arant Sr.
David is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Elizabeth Baird Arant; his mother, Kathryn Carver Arant; and three children, David Carver (Rebekkah) Arant Jr., of Ruleville, Mary Hunter (Jeremy) Sharp of Vicksburg, and Allen (Lindsay) Arant of Eads, Tenn. He is also survived and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Carver, Walker and Hunter Arant; Sawyer, Hayden, Barrett, Annelise and Alice Sharp; and Jane Allen, Bennett, Baird and Georgia Arant. He also leaves behind his brother, Hugh (Lucy) Arant Jr.; his sister, Allyson (John) Land; his brother-in-law, Bill (Cindy) Baird; and his sister-in-law, Celeste (Mark) Manning; along with many nephews and nieces.
A visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, August 22, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. A graveside service followed at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville.
Ray Funeral Home of Cleveland was entrusted with arrangements.
