Dorothy Mancill Worley, 92, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Indywood Personal Care Home in Indianola.
Mrs. Worley was born April 18, 1925 in Indianola to Dr. George and Daisy Wells Mancill. While she was growing up, she was in the paper every week for something and always as “Pretty Dot Mancill”. When she was 12, she would drive her father, Dr. Mancill, around to see his patients. Dorothy graduated from Indianola High School in 1941 and then attended The University of Mississippi, where she was head majorette. In 1945, she married the love of her life, Chandler Pinson Worley. Dorothy was an artist and loved to paint. She did many commissioned paintings for friends and she had one of her paintings displayed in the Mississippi Museum of Art. Dorothy was a homemaker and was an incredible wife, mother and grandmother and she loved her family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Dorothy was a member of First United Methodist Church in Indianola.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chandler Worley; and one brother, George Mancill.
Dorothy is survived by her six children, Chandler Worley and wife Karen of Billings, Montana, DeLynn Corica and husband Vince of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeff Worley and wife Margaret of Bluffton, South Carolina, Jane Barrett and husband Mike of Vicksburg, Gil Worley and wife Jo of Indianola, and Ken Worley and wife Lynn of Long Beach; one brother, Bobby Mancill and wife Kate of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service at First United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola has been entrusted with arrangements.
