Elizabeth Ann Moody, 92, of Grenada, passed away peacefully from dementia at her home on Friday, May 19, 2023.
Ann was born March 5, 1931, to Allene Melton Goldman and Andrew Goldman. She graduated as valedictorian in 1948 from Webb High School. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church.
Ann Mama, as she was fondly called by her grandchildren and friends, raised four children on their farm outside of Drew. She was very involved in their activities – being home room mother, Cub Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout leader and attending all their sporting events. Ann Mama was known Delta-wide for her hot homemade biscuits and you would find her most mornings in the kitchen whipping them up. Friends knew they were welcomed and extra faces were always around her table. You would often see Ann and her late husband, G.W., in the middle of the dance floor, jitterbugging around to the envy of those watching. Traveling all over the United States was another joy of theirs.
After G.W.’s retirement, they moved to Diamondhead, Ark., where they both enjoyed golfing and horse racing. Later in life, desiring to be closer to their children, they moved to Grenada.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 52 years, G.W. Moody; her parents; and her brother, Marvin Jackson Goldman.
Survivors include four children, Robert Dennis and Mary Moody of Citrus Springs, Fla., Marsha Moody Goodwin of Grenada, Debbie and Chuck Reynolds of Indianola, and Terry and Jan Moody of Grenada; her sister-in-law, Johnie Goldman of Nesbit; eight grandchildren, Chris Moody, Betsy and John Aguzzi, Brock and Leigh Goodwin, Bret and Leigh Ann Reynolds, Parker and Sarah Reynolds, Meagan and Gary Paczesny, Terra and Allen Cravens, Cade and Elizabeth Moody; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
There was a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Drew Cemetery in Drew.
The family is so thankful for the love and care administered to Ann by her five wonderful caregivers: Joda, Regina, Marcia, Betty and Iola; and Legacy Hospice.
Arrangements were entrusted to McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.
