Services for Everett Dewitt Lovelace of Indianola will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
Mr. Lovelace, 75, died peacefully at home in Indianola on Monday, July 10, 2017.
He was the son of Kent Emerson Lovelace Sr. and Mary Louise Early Lovelace and attended the Indianola public schools, the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., and graduated from Delta State University.
He was a native of Indianola and a lifetime communicant of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, of which his great-grandfather, Joseph Holmes Baker, and his grandfather, William Richards Early, were instrumental in organizing in 1904.
Following college and fulfillment of his military obligation in the U.S. Army, Mr. Lovelace began his career with Holt, Rinehart and Winston in Louisiana. For many years he has been a real estate broker and manager of Lovelace Properties in Indianola.
Mr. Lovelace was a beloved member of his community and was known for his quick wit and joy for life. He was an accomplished athlete, elected captain of his high school football team, and known as a fierce competitor. He loved music and all sports. He particularly loved deep sea fishing with his brother, Kent, and visiting his sister, Martha, in Highlands, N.C. His life’s greatest passion was following his Ole Miss Rebels.
He is survived by his two loving sons, Everett Dewitt Lovelace Jr. and Charles Emerson Lovelace, both of Indianola; the mother of his children, Kathryn Dinnebeck Lovelace; one brother, Kent Emerson Lovelace Jr. (Cherry) of Gulfport; one sister, Martha Lovelace Pietri (Jack) of Atlanta; and one granddaughter, Leighton Walden Lovelace of Indianola.
Visitation will be at the church parish house for one hour prior to service time Friday. A private burial will be under the direction of Boone Funeral Home of Indianola.
