Huey P. Griffin, 69, of Horn Lake, formerly of Indianola, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017.
A visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a funeral service Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 11:30 a.m. Both the visitation and the funeral will be held at Forest Hill Funeral Home South on Holmes Road in Memphis. Interment will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin was a proud Marine Corps Veteran where he served our country during the Vietnam War. The Marine Corps also trained him to be a good husband. He was also a retired Horn Lake police officer. He loved his family and always made sure they were taken care of. He also had a servant’s heart and helped everyone who needed it whether they wanted the help or not. He had laughing blue eyes and a mischievous smile. Mr. Griffin was a good man and lived by his actions and not his words.
Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Merle Griffin; and a brother, James Griffin.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Yolanda Griffin; one daughter, Crystal Hudson (Josh); two sons Matthew Purdom (Angie) and Matt Griffin (Kayla); 12 grandchildren: Matthew Turner, Amber Hudson, Hannah Hudson, Ethan “Squirrel” Millner, Aidan “Possum” Hudson, Gavin Hudson, Jason “Rabbit” Grose, Keely Griffin, Khloe Griffin, Kenzie Gracie, Addalyn Griffin, Cadence Griffin; two brothers: Billie Joe Griffin (Faye) and Jack Griffin; and four sisters: Cora Lee Morris (Joe), Nina Faye Poke (Oscar), Eloise McGowan (Earl), and Joan Mitchell.
