Jamie Browning Iverson, 67, of Indianola passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021.
Jamie Browning Iverson was born April 3, 1954 in Shelby, Mississippi to James and Evelyn Browning. She was a graduate of Bayou Academy where she was homecoming queen her senior year and ultimately obtained her degree in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. After college she worked in the school setting and married her husband, Rodney Iverson, on August 3, 1978.
Jamie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. This year she and Rodney would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. Their two sons, Dustin Howard Iverson and Tyler Brennan Iverson, were both her pride and joy and blessed her with three grandchildren, Anna (15), Spencer (5) and Ann Brennan (19 months). As the owners of Paul's Jewelry, she and Rodney not only worked together for decades, they were also best friends. They enjoyed taking family trips, going to market, hunting elk across the country, and riding to check on the farm together. Jamie’s most coveted title, however, was being “Mimi” to her three precious grandchildren who all adored her, and she them. She found so much joy in spending time with each of them and bringing them “goodies,” most of which were items she had saved from her boys’ childhoods, making them that much more special.
Jamie was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She was loving, kind, thoughtful and selfless. Her smile and gentle eyes made everyone around her feel at peace. She loved the Lord and made that apparent by the way she showed love to others and diligently studied His word. Jamie loved her church and her entire community deeply as she was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Indianola. She was also an animal lover and preferred to always have her home full of dogs and loved ones. The Lord allowed Jamie to conquer her battle with breast cancer in 2018.
Although our hearts are broken and ache from the pain of missing her, we are so thankful for the time God allowed us to have with her here on this Earth. We want to thank each and every friend and member of our special community for the outpouring of love and support over the past several days and most importantly for all of your prayers. We have felt them all.
Jamie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn Browning and nephew, Jonathan Maness. She is survived by her husband, Rodney, her son, Dustin, her son, Tyler and his wife, Lanna, her three grandchildren, Anna, Spencer, and Ann Brennan, her sister, Brenda Maness, niece, Bridgette McKinney, and cousins Cathryn Conroy Kanter, Caroline Conroy, Virginia Gay, Mike McCain, and Joseph Patrick McCain.
Arrangements will be posted later this week.
