June Sheffield Nicholson, 81, of Wayside, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
June was born June 8, 1942, in Sunflower County, to Nathan Robert Sheffield and Emma Timbs Sheffield. She was a Christian and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville. June adored her family and enjoyed cooking whenever she was able. She loved to go shopping and never turned down a good cup of coffee. June will be dearly missed by the family and friends she left behind, but her memory will remain with the ones who loved her forever.
June was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert “Bobby” Sheffield, Mack Sheffield, Ed Wayne Sheffield and Jimmy Sheffield; and three sisters, Penny Halligan, Vontice “Helen” Nicholson, and Trilby McCoy.
She is survived by two sons, Chris Hutton of Wayside and Don Nicholson of Greenville; one daughter, Tonya Nicholson of Oregon; one brother, Clyde Allen Sheffield of Burleson, Tenn.; one sister, Brenda Lassett of Indianola, a sister-in-law, Peggy Sheffield of Indianola; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Barnes and Christopher Colton Hutton; and three great-grandchildren, Mazie, Zayden and Addie.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service will start at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Lassett officiating. Burial will follow at Moorhead City Cemetery.
