Services for Marjorie Buckner-Williams of Indianola will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Buckner-Williams, 70, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.
Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Gardens under the direction Byas Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
The Rev. Mark Buckner will officiate at the services.
She was born Jan. 26, 1948 in Humphreys County to Allen Alexander and Essie Mae Buckner. She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age with the Persimmon Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She began her formal education at Persimmon Grove, later transferring to the Indianola School District, graduating from Gentry High School in 1968. She later graduated from Jackson State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education.
On Jan. 16, 1971 she was united in holy matrimony to Benjamin Williams. To this union one daughter was born, joining two sons, Kenneth and Jeremy Williams and four daughters, Cynthia Anderson, Becky Cornelius, Wanda Smith and Stacy Peterson.
Mrs. Buckner-Williams was an avid Sunday School Scholar, a faithful usher and a member of the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Allen Alexander Buckner Sr.; brother, Allen Alexander Buckner Jr.; step-daughter, Sandra Williams; and nephew, Roy Charles Kirklon Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Essie Mae Buckner of Indianola; one daughter, Adrienne (Joseph) Haines of New Orleans; two granddaughters, Scarlett-Belle Haines and Rosemary Margaret Haines, both of New Orleans; one grandson, Joseph Anthony Haines IV of New Orleans; two brothers, James W. Buckner Sr. of Fort Worth and the Rev. Mark S. Buckner of Cleveland; six sisters, Helen (Silvanus) Johnson of Brandon, Bernice Buckner, Joeirma Smith and Nioka Kirklon, all of Indianola, Lyvonne (Joseph)Brady of Meridian and Prophetess Sharon (Daniel) Patrick of Columbus; one aunt, Josie Brown of Tampa, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Helen M. Buckner of Indianola; 11 nephews; 8 nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
