Mary Ann Johnson Kimbrell, 79, of Greenwood, formerly of Inverness, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Indywood Glen in Greenwood.
She was born in Moorhead on April 22, 1939 and was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Elsie Spivey Johnson.
Affectionately known as MeMother, Mary Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was a wonderful cook and has fed most of the Mississippi Delta at one time or another. She was retired from South Sunflower County Hospital where she was the secretary for the X-Ray Department. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Steve Kimbrell; brother, Marvin Johnson; step-son, Steve Kimbrell; and grandson, Jeff Sloan. She leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Peggy Sloan and husband David of Indianola, Meg Lorenson and husband Glen of Carrollton, Sandra Claunch and husband Bruce of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Bob Kimbrell and wife Alane of Houston, Miss.; one sister, Peggy Willingham of Inverness; three grandchildren, Channan Rainey, Daniel Kimbrell, Olivia Kimbrell; and three great-grandchildren, Maidsen, Jeff, and Lane Rainey.
The family received friends Saturday, June 9th from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service at Burton Funeral Home. Burial followed in Southside Cemetery in Inverness. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
