Mary Eudy Boozer Jackson, 98, passed away at home on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018. Born on Aug. 10, 1920, in Eupora, to George William Boozer Sr., and Mary Eudy Boozer, Mary was raised in Boyle. She graduated from Boyle High School and received her degree in education from Delta State Teachers College. Mary moved to Moorhead and taught third grade at Moorhead Elementary. She married William Locke “Bubber” Jackson in Nov., 1945. She later worked at and retired from the Sunflower County Welfare Department. Mary spent her adult life in Moorhead and was a devoted mother to her children and a member of the Moorhead United Methodist Church. In 2001, she moved to Brandon and in 2009 moved to Baton Rouge, La. In 2014, Mary moved in with, and shared the remainder of her life, with her doting caregivers - her daughter and son-in-law, Susan Jackson and Chuck Longacre.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, William L. Jackson Sr. and Fannie Mae Jackson; her husband, Bubber; and her daughters, Jacqueline Frances and Betty Ann “Bootsie” Cummings. She was also predeceased by her siblings, George William Boozer and his wife Vermelle; James Boozer; Robert Boozer and his wife Denolis; Jean Rogers and her husband Joseph; Elizabeth Lou Boozer; Catherine Carroll Boozer; and her sister-in-law Margaret Jackson.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary Margaret (Johnny) Little of Houston, Texas, Sally (Ronny) Dodd of Brandon, Susan (Chuck) Longacre of Baton Rouge and Cathy Jo Jackson of Greensboro, N.C.; and her son William Locke (Janet) Jackson III of Humble, Texas; and her son-in-law, Stanley “Butch” Cummings of Latimer, Miss.. She also leaves her grandchildren Scott (Gail) Little, Rachel (Victor) Marquez, Lee (Kim) Dodd, Clay Dodd, Kyle (Victoria) Cummings, Mary Jacqueline Jackson and Will Jackson; her great-grandchildren Shelby Rae and Savannah Little, Brice, Britton, Cooper, Parker, Archer, Molly, and Atlas Marquez, Milla and Maylee Dodd, and Jackson Cummings; and one great-great-grandson, Levi Little.
A special thank you to the ladies who took such wonderful care of Momma this last year of her life - Coretta Wilson, Juanita Bessie, Patricka Cassie, and Cortanna Johnson. Thanks also to Suzie from Hospice of Baton Rouge.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, at Moorhead United Methodist Church with visitation at noon. Burial will follow in Moorhead Cemetery.
