Mary Juanice “Niecie” King Kirksey, 81, of Indianola, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Niecie was born July 21, 1941, in Choctaw, to Everette Freeman King and Myrtis Irene Allen King. She worked for Greenville Mills for 15 years and then worked for Indianola Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center as the activity director for 15 years prior to her retirement. Niecie enjoyed gardening, flowers, and cooking. She loved her family and enjoyed fellowshipping with them. Everyone was always welcome in her home. Niecie was very spiritual and was a faithful daughter of God. She led many people to the Lord. Niecie became a spiritual mother to several and was always a phone call away. She was a devoted member of Living Faith Fellowship in Indianola.
Niecie was preceded in death by her parents, Everette and Myrtis King; brother, Glen King; and two daughters, Sherrie Renea Kirksey and Deirdre “DeeDee” Kirksey Melton.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clarence Clayton Kirksey Sr., of Indianola; two children, Terrie Lynn Kirksey of Arlington, Tenn. and Clay Kirksey (Linda) of Indianola; son-in-law, Allen Melton of Pangburn, Ark.; sister, Jeanette (Aaron) Horis of Harrison, Ark.; five grandchildren, Matthew (Josie) Kirksey of Texas, Whitney (Daniel) Tate of Texas, Justin Melton of Ark., Tabatha (Brandon) Rackley of Miss., and Rachel Kirksey of Texas; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Nov. 26, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial followed at Indianola City Cemetery.
The Rev. James Newton and the Rev. Arnold Amason officiated at the services.
Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
