Nira Evelyn Burkhalter Jennings, 85, of Indianola, passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Jennings was born Aug. 25, 1933 in Anguilla to Hansel and Sally Jane Yawn Burkhalter. She was the co-owner of Jennings Welding in Indianola for 48 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Jennings, known to many as “Mamaw”, was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Morris Jennings; brother, Jackie Burkhalter; and two sisters, Dot Nicholas and Mary Ann Brooks.
Mrs. Jennings is survived by her three loving children, Buster Jennings and his wife Paula, Jackie Fratesi and her husband Ronny, and Mary Alford and her husband Bill, all of Indianola; four sisters, Katie Sims of Grace, Billie Marshall of Grace, Bobbie Crawford and her husband Wix of Holly Bluff and Patsy Harris of Grace; six grandchildren, Jason Jennings and his wife Lacey, Will Jennings and his wife Madelyn, Pattie Stevens, Mary Morris Fratesi, Natalie Reed and her husband John Wood, and Joe Fratesi; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018 from 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
