Noel Jackson Grant Jr. passed from this life on Monday, October 30, 2017 at his home in Pontotoc. He was born outside Drew on August 15, 1929 to Noel Jackson and Effie Lou Ray Grant. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Germany as a mechanic. He retired in 2014 at the age of 85, after a long career, as a funeral director, ending his career at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home. Noel was a faithful Christian, worshipping with the Hwy. 15 Church of Christ of Pontotoc. He loved the Lord and encouraged everyone, especially the youth, to follow God.
Services were held at the Hwy 15 Church of Christ on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Robert Kingsley and Bro. Leslie Grant officiating. Visitation was Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church. Interment was in Baldwin Memorial Gardens in Pontotoc. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc was in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Janelle “Nell” Williams Grant; two sons, Noel Grant III (Ann) of Pontotoc and Leslie Grant (Sheila) of Amory; two daughters, Bernice Miller (Bobby) of Courtland and Faith Grant of Tampa, Florida; one brother, Donnie Grant of Ellisville and one sister, Martha Adams of Collierville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Karen Cummins (Andy), Jackie Langford (Alan), Shelley Summerford (Steven), Sara Beth Chunn and Shayne Grant (Tacy) and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Eddie Grant, Freddie Grant and Ronnie Grant and one sister, Imogene Osborne.
Pallbearers were Andy Cummins, Alan Langford, Shayne Grant, Steven Summerford, Bobby Miller, Clint Young, Robert Wright and Joe Ware.
Honorary Pallbearers were the men of the Hwy 15 Church of Christ congregation and the staff of Tutor Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to Pinevale Children's Home, 1872 CR 700, Corinth, MS 38834.
