Nonee Cudd Pate, 84, of Indianola, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola with her loving family by her side.
Nonee, affectionately known as “Mama Pate,” was born March 19, 1934 in Shaw to Charles and Birdie Malone Cudd. She worked as a CNA for Care Inn in Indianola for 27 years prior to her retirement in 1994. Mama Pate was a very loving and caring person to everyone she met – if you visited her home, you always left with a snack and something to drink. She loved birds, especially her two parakeets. Mama Pate was always joking around and kept people laughing. She often referred to herself as “Granny Grunt.”
Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtis Eugene Pate; her son, Jimmy Pate; and three brothers, JD Cudd, LC Cudd, and Arist “Buddy” Cudd.
She is survived by one daughter, Martha Hoffman and husband Randy; two sons, Jerry Pate and wife Liz, and Billy Pate and wife Ann; daughter-in-law, Mary Pate, all of Indianola; eleven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial followed in Indianola Memorial Gardens.
