Shirley Polasini Hancock, 79, of Indianola, entered Heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023.
She was born April 18, 1944, in Greenville, and was the youngest of nine children born to John and Julia Santucci Polasini. Shirley was a graduate of Leland High School and attended Mississippi Delta Junior College. She worked at Delta Seed Company for many years prior to her retirement. Shirley was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Charles, and took wonderful care of him through his sickness until his death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hancock; her parents, John and Julia Polasini; and seven sisters, Ida Ruggeri, Ann Reginelli, Mary O’Branovich Arendale, Polly Brooks, Josephine Bellipanni, Johnny Mae Minton and Lucille Wilson.
Shirley is survived by one brother, John “Bobee” Polasini Jr. (Carol) of Leland; a special niece, Martha Randall; niece, Julie Wilson Young; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The memorial service began at 11 a.m. with Father Sleeva Makala officiating. A private burial was held at Indianola City Cemetery.
Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
