Times have literally changed tremendously and it’s no where near slowing down for me, nor you, I’m sure.
Writing this, I am 17 years old, undergoing my last year of high school, and sitting in class listening to my classmates talk about how good Disney Channel use too be.
With thoughts pandering my mind, I can recall how things used to be “back in my day.” as the elders in my family say. I truly felt like life was easier and more fun when I was 10 years old.
Today, life is just "lifing,” as my generation would say. Things just aren’t the same anymore…
As I look toward the future, I think about my children and the childhood experiences they’ll have.
When I was younger, I was an active member of the “outside committee.” I rode my bike with an empty water bottle wedged between the tires, made mud pancakes with a little water and some leaves, ran to catch little “lighting bugs,” and even played red lights and green lights.
I suppose everyone of my generation could say they experienced the same.
However, it saddens me to think that my children and my classmates' children won’t even be able to experience the “good ole days.”
Personally, I think the world has just gotten so technical nowadays with technology, politics, schooling, work, and so much more.
For example, I have always looked forward to college, but now that I am here and in the position of applying for college, it’s been more than stressful.
I just can’t grasp why it’s so difficult to transfer from high school to college while having to apply for scholarships and a thousand other applications just to get further educated.
If I could slow down time, I absolutely would. As aforementioned, times have changed…
By the time I have kids, virtual recess or something of that nature will be a thing.
Honestly, I’m not really sure about that, but being that time is slipping right through our hands every second, I do cherish all the time I’ve had thus far.
Cherishing moments as they happen has not only helped me feel thankful for life, but also helped me to have a more positive and happy outlook on what I’ve done in life.
