It is important that we find the time to rest

By RICKEY LAWSON FOR THE E-T,

With all of the noise that surrounds us on a daily basis, it is so important that we rest.

Physical rest is great, but I’m talking about a different kind of rest.

This is the type of rest that requires you to activate your faith. This is the type of rest where hidden information can be revealed to you.

I was having my quiet time one evening and I heard the word rest over and over again. I asked the lord, what do you mean by rest?

I knew it was Him trying to reveal something to me. What I heard next changed my life forever. I heard the phrase, “reveal every secret thing.”

After I heard this phrase, I then realized that the first letter of each word in this phrase spelled out rest.

I was amazed and quickly wrote this down. After writing this down, I wanted to know what this meant, especially for me.

What I heard next really opened my eyes and gave me understanding.

“When you can rest and separate yourself from all of the noise around you, you will be able to clearly hear the secret things I am revealing to you about your life.”

This immediately gave me understanding as to why I could not focus and figure out what I was supposed to be doing.

I immediately began to study and practice everything I knew about rest.

Hebrews 4:11 states that you have to work to enter into rest, which meant that I had to change the way I responded to situations and circumstances.

I had to practice relying on God and His word rather than relying on my ability to solve a problem or fix a situation.

I was actually working to enter into rest! I noticed that things started to get better for me and I could see much clearer where I was going and what I was supposed to be doing with my life.

In Exodus 14:14, the scripture states that the Lord will fight your battles for you.

The more I practiced rest and trusted in God, the more I experienced Exodus 14:14.

Pretty soon, relying on God became second nature to me and I found myself constantly explaining my calm demeanor in the midst of what seem to be troubling situations.

I began telling others about rest and how God could reveal every secret thing to them over six years ago and continue to do so today.

Resting has become a lifestyle for me and it can become a lifestyle for you as well.

I challenge you today to start practicing rest and just wait and see where it will take you. God bless you.
