EDITORIAL BY J. A. RICHARDSON:
The disrespectful action of women in the United States Senate this past Tuesday is a forerunner of what they will do if given the right to vote. They abuse the privilege of their sex.
WRITER’S NOTE: That rings a bell of politics of today. I was a little puzzled at Editor Richardson’s comment because I remembered that no woman was elected to the Senate until 1931. From reading through early editions, it is evident that Editor Richardson was a brilliant man, but he flubbed up on this one. He evidently was referring to the House of Representatives. He most likely was referring to Jeanette Rankin of Montana who served from 1917 until 1934. She was often quoted for her controversial comment, “I’m no lady, I am a member of Congress”.
