Everyday as we go through life, we are going to be faced with problems that we can either go over them, go around them, or change our direction that we are going. These problems are much like the potholes that we see and face on the streets of our city.
Most of us that drive are fully aware of what the roadway holds for us if we keep our eyes on the road; however, every now and then we are going to hit a pothole in the road that we didn’t see. When we do this, it can affect our vehicle we are driving causing damage. We feel the jolt of the uneven road and have no idea what kind of damage it caused to our car or truck. If we hit many of these potholes the damage may come over a period of time and get worse and worse.
This is the same in our life as we travel down life’s highway each day. We are going to face obstacles in the road, and if we allow ourselves to hit them, we may cause damage to our thinking or our emotions. Traveling through this world is not easy and there are many temptations along the way.
Going through life is the same as driving down a street. We are going to encounter bumps and turns in the road. If we are living by a worldly standard, we are going to fuss and fume about every little situation that comes along. However, if we are Christian and allowing God to lead us down the road of life, we are going to approach these obstacles with a much better attitude.
Trusting in the Lord in everything we do and everywhere we go can give us the assurance of overcoming anger, impatience, self-pity, and intemperance. If we are living by the standards of the world, we are going to be upset with things ahead of us, just as the road that gives us potholes and we are unable to avoid them will cause damage to our vehicle and end up costing us at the repair shop.
Even those of us that allow Jesus to lead us are going to face temptations that will take us back into worldly situations. When we allow this to happen others are going to see us through a worldly view or a Christian view. Our witness can be increased or damaged through our attitude and actions on how we handle the situation. It doesn’t matter if we are driving our car or truck and hit potholes in the road or if we allow our Christian life to be threatened by obstacles, people are going to see our reaction. What is your response going to be? Are you living in a world of sin and allowing Satan to guide your actions? If so, I hope you come to know Jesus as your personal Savior and allow Him to control your actions and attitude. Doing this will help you in every situation you encounter and how you react to it.
