Have you ever wondered what your gift is?
We are surrounded by people on a daily basis that seem to be great at something. I am often amazed by some of the things that people can do.
For example, some sing, dance, play sports, or cook exceptionally well.
The internet is full of people that do amazing things, and a lot of them have learned how to benefit financially from their abilities. They are able to tap into their gift. They are graced to do the thing they have been gifted to do.
I have a friend that is a brick mason, but also makes money by gathering and selling scrap metal for a living.
This guy is amazing!
I call him a faith man because in his line of work, there is no clock to punch and the hours are not your typical 9-5 work hours.
He wakes up in the morning and relies on God to supply all of his needs (Philippians 4:19). It’s true! I have never seen him go without, and he always has more than enough.
When it comes to my line of work, I am quite the opposite as I have a 9-5 salaried position. I basically make my living on a computer.
This subject came up in one of our conversations. As my friend and I began discussing our gifts, we wondered what it would be like if we tried our hand at each other’s gift.
It wasn’t long until my friend called me up and said, “Rick, this is what God told me...‘I called you to do what you do and I called Rick to do what he does, so stay in your lane!’”
That made a lot of sense to the both of us. Staying in our lane allows us to flow effortlessly in the thing that God called and gifted us to do. Proverbs 18:16 says, “Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men.” The keyword is YOUR gift…not someone else’s.
So, how do you know what your gift is?
Many people don’t know what their gift is or even how to begin to identify what they have been gifted to do. Here are a few clues that may help you identify your gift.
Think about some of the things that you do to relax or have fun.
Oftentimes, the thing you have been gifted to do stays on your mind. Your gift might even be something that you don’t mind doing for free when you could easily be paid for it.
If you find yourself noticing someone doing something that you are passionate about and you feel that you might be able to do it better than that person, this may be an area that you are gifted in.
Otherwise, you probably wouldn’t care whether they were doing this particular thing well or not.
These are just a few pointers to start you on your journey to identifying what your gift, or gifts, are.
Nevertheless, don’t forget the most important way to find out what your gift is…and that is to ask God to reveal it to you. After all, He gave it to you. God bless you!
