I would like to compliment The Enterprise-Tocsin on their reporting of our city board meetings.
However, I have an issue with the phrase "the Board did this" which in many cases it was not actually the entire Board, it was an individual member or certain members of the Board.
I would appreciate it if this would be specified in the reporting.
I am particularly concerned about the direction our meetings have taken, specifically in manner and conduct. In my opinion, direct derogatory comments, negative innuendos and name calling express a disrespectful posture for our honorable Mayor and fellow Aldermen. In the past 22 years I've had the privilege to serve under 3 Mayors. It is my opinion Mayor Rosenthal has is doing an exceptional job. He gives his all to the City of Indianola while persevering frequent political attacks and blockage by the Board majority on projects he feels are in the best interest of our city, namely the issues of street repair.
I regret having to leave the meeting abruptly but after enduring Alderman Elder’s constant outbursts, ignoring the simple procedure of Robert’s Rules of Order and so many insults, my only option was to leave the meeting before it deteriorated any further.
I feel we have the duty to responsibly conduct ourselves in a professional manner and in the best interest of those in our community we have the privilege to serve, not our own personal agenda. Each of us was elected by the people of Indianola and have an obligation to do so respectfully and in the format our bylaws require us to follow.
