Dear editor,
Good Morning Indianola, Mississippi, how are you now we have Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas before us. We shall make plans for the New Year. We would be wise if we would work together and solve some of the problems that plague our society such as crime, unemployment and failing schools. We need to tap into the resources we have in our community.
We have retired teachers, superintendents, administrators and parents that were successful in the field of education. We should take back our school system. Conservators are not solving the problems our schools are plagued with. They are wasting our tax money and destroying the future of our children. They are recycling staff from one failed school system and moving them to another district. Our priority should be to correct this failed policy before we consider building a new school. Building is expensive, and a new building will be destroyed within one year of operation if we allow the present system to continue.
We must make parents accountable for their children if they are unruly. Teachers are not supposed to be policemen, nor are they supposed to be bar bouncers. I have been informed that some of our female teachers are harassed by some of our male students. This information is not allowed to be made public by the staff, as I was informed. This should be our project for the new year. All babies are born innocent and ignorant. They learn bad behavior after they get here.
The central office staff should be reduced, increase teaching staff and place those resources to classroom teachers. Education is crucial to community development or economic development. All Indianolians want the town to grow and provide a good environment and an educated work force.
This Edition is dedicated to my one fan that told me this perspective is appreciated.
Thanks, Dorsey White
