Mr. and Mrs. Billy Duncan of Inverness were in town last week.
We are glad to report that Mrs. W. T. Pitts who has been in a Greenville hospital for three weeks is now able to be brought home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holmes of Holly Ridge were the guests of friends in Indianola last Sunday.

The Lady Indians of Indianola High School took on the Belzoni Warriors last week. Starters for the Indians were Linda Hull, Sally Callaway, Marilyn Lipnick, Deborah Webb and Barbara Bellipanni.
Mrs. Perry Stephan accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Chandler Worley spent the weekend in Fort Worth, Texas with Lt. Colonel Stephan
Plans are being made for the 11th annual Garden Seminar. Those attending were Mrs. Dozier Lester Chairman, and Mrs. Walton Gresham Director of the Deep South District.

A weather nightmare hit Sunflower County Thursday in the form of an ice storm which cut off electricity to entire towns.
The Pancake Supper sponsored annually by St Stephens Episcopal Church has been postponed because they have no power caused by the ice storm

Four students from Indianola have been selected for the MDCC Hall of Fame. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better to qualify. They are Julie Betts, Michael Spencer, Chad Steward and Jimmy Sykes.

Where is Jimmy Sykes Today?
Twenty-five years ago, Jimmy Sykes, son of the late Buddy and Betty Jean Sykes was a pre-med student at MDCC and was named to the Hall of Fame. He then graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi. He went on to have a stellar career in the field of pharmacy and worked at several pharmacies. He became District Pharmacy Manager and moved to Grenada. In 2005, Sykes held the position of Vice President of Pharmacy Operations at Fred’s Corporate Office in Memphis “In 2009, the Lord called me to the ministry and I went to seminary and obtained my Master of Divinity in 2011 from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis. In November of 2012 I was called to be the Senior Pastor at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hermando and we have been there since,” Sykes said.
Though he lives in North Mississippi, he said that he and his wife, Leisha and their two daughters love to come back home to Indianola when they can. “In fact, we took a food tour of all the great Delta restaurants recently, starting out in Lake Village and making our way through the Delta.
