They are now facing season-ending elimination in baseball playoff action.
With that potential scenario in front of them, the Indianola Academy Colonels will travel to Marshall Academy in Holly Springs today and are required to win two games to keep their season alive.
Owning a 5-13 record, the Colonels find themselves in this situation following Tuesday night’s home-field 13-0 loss to the now 21-2 Patriots.
The first game of today’s possible doubleheader is expected to begin at 5 p.m.
Should the IA squad turn the tables on Marshall Academy today, the Colonels will move on to the second round of the 3A state playoffs.
That competition will begin the week of April 26 with the opponent being the winner of this week’s Carroll Academy and Lee Academy of Clarksdale series.
In Tuesday night’s loss to the District 1-3A champion Marshall Academy squad, the Colonels could muster only an Elliott Lloyd infield single against the Patriots’ pitching staff.
