The conclusion of their regular season schedule is now just ahead.
Fortunately, while there is but a pair of scheduled softball games remaining to play next week, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels still have postseason play in their future.
Owning a 10-17 record while entering next Monday’s 6 p.m. visit to Winona Christian School, the Lady Colonels will wrap up their regular season schedule at home next Tuesday.
Arriving at Chism Park to take on the IA squad will be Deer Creek School of Arcola.
This 6:30 p.m. contest will also feature the pregame honoring of the four senior players on this year’s District 1-2A championship squad.
Making their final appearance in an IA softball uniform while on their home field will be Addisyn Battle, Presley Bradshaw, Julia Davis and Molly Helms.
However, those four seniors will have the opportunity to wear their IA uniform again next Saturday, September 27.
For on that day, the Lady Colonels will begin their play in the North 2A State Playoffs.
While the tournament will be hosted by Canton Academy, the Lady Colonels have drawn a bye in their opening game on the strength of being the top seed in District 1 competition.
Game times and opening opponents are to be announced.
In their most recent play this past week, a Monday visit to Chism Park was made by Tunica Academy.
The Lady Colonels would suffer a 14-0 loss to a strong Lady Blue Devils squad in this non-district match-up.
Meanwhile, Tuesday found the IA squad at Benton Academy where they fell by a 16-2 score to the Lady Raiders.
