The Indianola Police Department is investigating a weekend shooting that left one person injured.
The non-fatal shooting occurred just after midnight on Sunday morning at Delta Manor Apartments just off of Wiggins Road, according to IPD Investigator Irish Johnson.
The male victim was sitting in a parked car when nearly 40 shots were fired in his direction.
“There were two shooters, because we found two different kinds of shell casings,” Johnson told The Enterprise-Tocsin this week.
Police recovered 9mm and 40 caliber shell casings, he said.
Johnson said that the victim had been sitting in the driver’s seat when he told police that he was “ambushed.” He managed to get over the seat, into the back seat and eventually out of the door where he laid on the ground on the passenger side.
He was struck in the groin area and the leg, Johnson said.
“He doesn’t know who it is,” Johnson said.
The victim told investigators that he had no known enemies.
Johnson said that the shooting is still under investigation, and anyone who has information about the incident should reach out to IPD by way of phone or the Tips411 application, where witnesses may leave information anonymously.
