Congressman Thompson Announced $399,699 Awarded to Tougaloo College
United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) recently announced The National Science Foundation has awarded $399,699 to Tougaloo College. This project, entitled "Targeted Infusion Project: Promoting Student Engagement and Success in STEM through a Combined Approach" is under the direction of Manliang Feng.
The goals of this project will be realized by combining two pedagogies, adaptive learning and POGIL (process oriented guided inquiry learning), that have been proven effective in improving students’ learning experience and outcomes. The project design aids students of various background knowledge levels to reach the same competency in mastering concepts in general chemistry courses.

Congressman Thompson Announced U. S. Department of State Grant to Mississippi Valley State University
United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) recently announced The U. S. Department of State has awarded Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) a grant from the Increase and Diversity Education Abroad for U. S. Students (IDEAS) Program to bolster American study abroad programs on its campus.
Mississippi Valley State University will use funds to build study abroad awareness among students and their parents through a year-round marketing campaign and the development of pre-study abroad programming. The university will also provide training and resources to help faculty develop new study abroad programs and internationalize their curricula.

Congressman Thompson Announced over $12.6 Million Awarded to Yazoo City
United States Representative Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS) recently announced The U. S. Department of Transportation has awarded $12,641,440 through the FY22 Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability & Equity (RAISE) Grants Program.
The project has three main components: construction of a train station, development of a stormwater park to capture and absorb excessive stormwater and flooding, and “complete streets” redevelopment that will include bike lanes, sidewalks, lighting, broadband infrastructure, and stormwater management along Main Street.
