Below is a press release from the Mississippi Public Service Commission:
Northern District Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley recently joined Atmos Energy Corporation representatives and Leflore County and Greenwood officials for an announcement with Greenwood Utilities.
As part of their Backup Generator Rebate Program, Atmos Energy announced today that Greenwood Utilities received a $25,000 rebate for installing a 125 kW natural gas generator
for a water well. Greenwood Utilities has also recently signed a purchase order to install another 125 kW generator on a separate water well in 2023, where they will be eligible to receive another $25,000 rebate.
Atmos Energy offers the Backup Generation Rebate Program incentives to residential, commercial, industrial, and governmental customers. Residential, commercial, or industrial
customers installing Backup Generation receive an incentive of $100/kW for a maximum 250 kW model. Governmental customers who demonstrate that the generator will improve the reliability of non-critical municipal services can get up to $150/kW rebate, and municipal customers who provide critical services can receive rebates of up to $200/kw.
“I am proud to join with Atmos Energy and Greenwood officials today for this announcement. The acquisition of these natural gas generators by Greenwood Utilities will help ensure resiliency and improve reliability of critical services. I’m grateful to Atmos for promoting the Backup Generator Rebate program and I encourage residents and businesses to utilize it,” said Commissioner Brandon Presley.
