Rokiyah Hobbs, a proud native of Greenville, Mississippi, is a senior at Tougaloo College, pursuing a degree in
Political Science with minors in Pre-Law and Public Policy.
As a member of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, Reuben V. Anderson Pre-law & Public Policy Society, and the Tougaloo College Student Government Association, Rokiyah is gaining valuable experience in public service. Her passion for advocacy, maternal healthcare, and holistic wellness drives her commitment to helping better her community. Rokiyah aims to gain insights into the legislative process, engage with policymakers, and apply her knowledge to real-world scenarios, furthering her advocacy and public service skills.
Kayle Amos, a proud Mississippi native, exemplifies dedication to advocacy and community service. Currently attending the University of Mississippi, Kayle is pursuing a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Public Policy Leadership, with minors in Sports Business Administration and American Sign Language.
With aspirations to attend law school, Kayle is committed to combating injustice in all its forms. Her passion for advocacy, her diverse skill set, and great leadership abilities position her to make a significant impact in her community and beyond. Kayle looks forward to expanding her knowledge, building valuable connections, and making the most of her experience on Capitol Hill.
Jaheim Wilder, a proud native of Belzoni, Mississippi, is a current senior at Mississippi Valley State University,
majoring in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Journalism.
As an author inspired by James Baldwin, Nikki Giovanni, Toni Morrison, and Audre Lorde, he has written three books: (1) Garden, (2) Soil, and (3) Crimson and Cream. He plans to work in investigative journalism, focusing on issues such as HIV/AIDS, autism, cancer, civil and human rights, education, literacy, and poverty. Jaheim is the Youth Pastor and Minister of Music at Good Samaritan Walking by Faith Ministries under Pastor Helen Sims and a student ambassador for the Rev. George Lee and Fannie Lou Hamer museums in Belzoni, MS.
John Wicks, III, a proud Jackson, Mississippi native, is a current junior at the University of Mississippi, majoring in Journalism with a minor in Political Science. In college, John serves as a peer advisor within the Career Center and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
On Sundays, John is actively involved at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, singing with the male choir and participating in seasonal skits and plays. He has also volunteered with the Jackson Children's Museum, The Salvation Army, and We Will Go Ministries. Regardless of his path, John aims to make a positive impact, using his voice to inform, empower, and inspire others.
Myiesha Smith, a proud native of Indianola, Mississippi, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Journalism at Mississippi Valley State University. She is passionate about storytelling and using it to influence change in society.
Outside the classroom, Myiesha has gained valuable hands-on experience in various fields. Her editorial roles include serving as a Freelance Writer for The Enterprise-Tocsin and a Staff Writer for Delta Devils' Gazette. In leadership, she has excelled as the Campus Pantry Manager at Mississippi Valley State University and as the Yearbook Editor for the Mississippi Valley State University Communication Department. Myiesha was an Ambassador at the BB King Museum while serving on the Mayor’s Youth Council in Indianola, MS. Myiesha is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in Journalism.
