This is the result of several complaints from residents about questionable sewage service and business practices
At its November Docket meeting, the Mississippi Public Service Commission voted to establish a docket for the purpose of investigating, conducting hearings, and ordering and implementing necessary measures regarding quality of service by Le Papillon Utility Co., LLC.
Le Papillon was issued a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity authorizing the construction, operation, and maintenance of a sewer system within a specified area of Lamar County, Mississippi on February 15, 2005. The Commission has authority to investigate and order hearings into the actions or inactions of Le Papillon if the Commission suspects a violation of any provision of law or order or rule of the Commission.
“My office has received several complaints from residents of Le Papillon properties in the past 6 months, so we plan on investigating aspects of its operations and infrastructure,” Chairman Dane Maxwell said. “I am committed to getting to the bottom of these issues to resolve any problems for the future of this system and the residents it serves.”
Under the laws of the State of Mississippi, the Commission is charged to promote adequate, reliable, and economical service to all citizens and residents of the State and has exclusive original jurisdiction over the intrastate business and property of public utilities.
