It was baptism by fire this past Thursday for the Gentry High Rams baseball team.
With only three games played under their belt, the 0-3 Rams opened the Region 2-5A portion of their schedule Thursday when Yazoo City High School visited the Gentry High field.
The results of that game were unavailable at press time.
Unfortunately, next week’s Spring Break will not offer the Rams any additional opportunities to gain experience.
With that week off looming, the Rams’ next game will be on March 18 with regional foe Greenville High School.
With the weather continuing to wreak havoc on their schedule, the Rams did play a previously unscheduled game this past Monday against O’Bannon High School of Greenville.
That clash with the Greenwaves ended in a 13-3 loss for the Rams.
In other action last Thursday and Friday, the Rams were unable to record their first win of the season.
Last Friday the Rams dealt with a 17-4 loss to Humphreys County High of Belzoni while one day earlier a 12-4 defeat at the hands of West Bolivar High of Rosedale was absorbed.
