Most of us go through life wishing we had more than we have. The thing about this is that we probably have more than we will ever need. Our wishes come in the category of material items and most of these are just things we really do not need.
Yes, many of us get behind in our financial planning and spend our money in the wrong ways. This constitutes a need that we created and have a hard time rectifying a fix to our problem. This could mean a time of being late on our payments on debts we have incurred. It could possibly mean a family not being able to eat or even buying fuel for their automobile. There are many variables to these type problems.
All one needs to do is read the Bible and realize that God provides for us if we will trust Him and live for Him. Look what He did for Samson. Called by the Lord to help free the Israelites from the Philistines, the Lord gave him strength. His long hair was a covenant from the Lord to Samson that he would always have physical strength if he obeyed the Lord. Of course, as we do today, Samson’s hair was cut, and his strength was gone because he disobeyed. He stayed weak until he realized what he had done and came back to loyal obedience to the Lord. This happens to us today when we take our eyes off God and turn to the world for answers. Stay strong and look to the Lord for guidance.
The Lord gives us wisdom. Look at what He did for Solomon. Our prayer should be as Solomon prayed. Psalm 25:4-5 tells us; “Show me your ways, O Lord; Teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.” All of us need to wait on the Lord and listen to what He tells us. He will speak to you!
All of us need the patience of Job. When his world was turned upside down, Job never doubted or spoke against the Lord, even though his family and friends encouraged him to.
Do you have the faith of Abraham? If the Lord asked you to sacrifice your son, would you? Abraham had his son on the altar when the Lord stopped him and provided a sacrifice for him. Is your faith in God as strong as Abraham’s?
How about courage? Do you have the courage that David had when he went up against Goliath?
Even though we wish for material things the Lord provides us the most valuable things we need through strength, wisdom, patience, faith, and courage. As Christians we all know that all these assets are only available through the love of Jesus Christ. We are to love as Jesus loves us.
Should you not know Jesus personally, call on Him today, confess your sins, and ask Him to come in to your heart today! He is the only thing you will need for eternal life!
