To the Editor:
There has been a lot of talk in Ruleville surrounding the city's recent decision to remove longtime Chief of Police Ernie Scarber, as well as the election of new aldermen. With these changes in leadership, many residents are asking: what happens next?
One major concern that continues to come up is the ongoing issue of loud music and noise in residential areas, along with ATVs and other off-road vehicles being driven illegally on public streets. These problems not only disrupt the peace but also pose safety risks to our community.
With new leadership in place, will these quality-of-life issues finally be addressed? Will Ruleville consider implementing a city-wide curfew, similar to other areas in Sunflower County, to help curb some of these disturbances and bring order back to our streets?
Change in leadership should bring meaningful progress. Ruleville residents are watching, hoping, and expecting accountability and action—not just promises. We want to see our city become a safer and more respectful place for all who live here.
