Sarah Eldridge Sullivan, 84, of Indianola, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, at South Sunflower County Hospital.
Sarah was born Oct. 16, 1938, in DeKalb, to Archie and Mary Wilson Eldridge. She was a strong-willed and independent person. Sarah was also loving and giving. She loved helping people in need and believed everyone deserved a second chance. Sarah was a talented decorator and was always very stylish. Above all, she was a wonderful wife and mother. Sarah started to work in the banking industry at a young age and retired as vice president of Southern Bancorp after over 50 years in banking. She attended Eastwood Baptist Church in Indianola.
Sarah was preceded in death by her father, Archie Eldridge; her mother, Mary Wilson Key; her sister, Norma Jean Allen; and a brother, Vernon Eldridge.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, C.W. Sullivan of Indianola; her son, Mark Sullivan (Allyson) of Tyler, Texas; one brother, Danny Joe Eldridge of Meridian; and three grandchildren, Hunter Sullivan, Margaux Sullivan Sanders and Layla Sullivan.
The memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola with the Rev. Jimmy Pender officiating. Visitation followed the service at the funeral home. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
