Sunflower‑Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc. (SHCPI) announces it has been awarded $996,000 in grant funding from the Mississippi Department of Human Services (MDHS), Division of Workforce Development and Partnership Management, to identify and enroll eligible individuals into a comprehensive workforce readiness program.
Through the implementation of this grant, applicants will undergo a comprehensive evaluation for acceptance. Following the evaluation, a customized self‑sufficiency plan will be developed to address individual needs. Services may include, but are not limited to, vocational training, internships, formal studies in an accredited community college program, and on‑the‑job training opportunities. These resources are designed to help families overcome barriers to employment and acquire marketable skills.
“This partnership is an incredible opportunity to help families within our seven‑county service area thrive,” said Monica Hope, chief executive officer of Sunflower‑Humphreys Counties Progress, Inc. “By working with the Mississippi Department of Human Services, we can ensure that participants have the support they need to achieve lasting success.”
SHCPI expects to enroll eligible participants ages 25 to 59 from the following seven counties: Bolivar, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Leflore, Sunflower and Washington.
