Shirley Wilson Hogan departed this life on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in DeSoto, Texas. She was born Dec. 14, 1955, in Moorhead, to Joe and Leola Wilson. Shirley was the second oldest of nine children. She confessed a belief in Christ at an early age at Mount Aria Missionary Baptist Church of Moorhead.
Shirley was a 1973 graduate of Gentry High School. She matriculated to Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. She enjoyed a 30-year career as an accountant.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister, Delphine Wilson Brooks; and four half-brothers, John Wilson, James Wilson, Curtis Wilson and Charles Wilson.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 47 years, Earnest Hogan, formerly of Mound Bayou; three children, Anthony Derell Hogan, Cedric Hogan and Bresha Hogan; two sisters, Mary (Hury) Minniefield of Indianola and Bettie Jo Trotter of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Theodore Wilson of Atlanta, Rodger Wilson of Moorhead, Darry Wilson of Ellsworth, Maine, and Willie Earl (Dee) Wilson and Barry Wilson, both of Lancaster, Texas; one grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday in Texas.
