Indianola native Steve Smith has joined The Enterprise-Tocsin as a reporter.
Smith is a 1988 graduate of Gentry High School, a 1990 graduate of Mississippi Delta Community College, and he is a Navy veteran.
“We are excited to have Steve join The E-T and bring his writing talents and perspectives to our coverage of Sunflower County,” E-T Publisher Bryan Davis said.
Smith also has a Bachelor of Theology and Doctor of Theology from Andersonville Theological Seminary.
“"I’m thrilled to join the team at our local newspaper,” Smith said. “Writing, researching and sharing stories that resonate with our community is something I’m genuinely passionate about. I look forward to the challenges ahead and the opportunity to learn and grow alongside such a dedicated group of people."
Along with being a Navy veteran, he is also a veteran of the pulpit, as he has pastored multiple churches through the years, currently at New Bethlehem M.B. Church in Doddsville.
He is no stranger to The E-T, as he has contributed a weekly column for several months.
Smith’s column will phase out as he settles into the reporter role.
“Steve has already hit the ground running his first week, and we look forward to many more after this,” Davis said.
