The playoffs are now looming large for the defending State AAA Indianola Academy Colonels baseball team.
However, in order to enter into postseason play in a positive fashion, the 11-3-1, 6-0 IA team must weather a challenging week of baseball; beginning with a trip next Monday to Kirk Academy in Grenada.
This initial 6 p.m. District 1AAA contest opens the three-game series with the Raiders, a series which will conclude next Tuesday when the Grenada squad visits the IA field.
First pitch of this upcoming doubleheader is scheduled to be thrown at 4 p.m.
However, the Colonels also have a three game series remaining to play against Bayou Academy of Cleveland; a series which could most likely decide which of these talented teams will claim the District 1AAA championship.
Dates and game-times for this series with the Bayou Academy Colts are to be announced.
Along with the district crown, another item on the line is home-field advantage for the opening series of the State AAA playoffs; the week of April 22 will usher in this three week long chase for the state crown.
