With the 2019 Indianola Academy baseball season now complete, postseason honors have come to four Colonels in recognition of their spring performances.
In this group comprised of three seniors and a junior, all four were named to the District 1AAA all conference team while the three seniors have also been chosen to play in the 2019 MAIS All-Star game.
Seniors selected as an all-District 1AAA member were pitcher/shortstop Will Davis, pitcher Josh Hill, and third baseman Wesley Lester.
Additionally, the highest district honor was bestowed upon Hill as the right-handed pitcher was chosen as the district’s Most Valuable Player.
Rounding out the list of players receiving an all-conference nod, as well as representing IA’s junior class, was catcher Thomas Putnam.
As for next Tuesday’s MAIS All-Star baseball game, IA will be well-represented by the three future college players taking the field at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson. First pitch of this contest is scheduled to be thrown at 12:30 p.m.
Playing their final game while representing Indianola Academy are college signees Davis (East Central Community College), Hill (Mississippi State University), and Lester (Northwest MS Community College).
“It has been a sincere pleasure to coach each of these guys throughout their successful high school years”, said IA Head Coach Clete Putnam. “They are not only high-quality baseball players but match that by being high-quality young men. It will be fun to watch them as they continue their athletic careers.”
