With the month of March now near its end, high school baseball teams are also beginning to experience a heavy dose of regional games to play.
Given that scenario, a pair of Region 3-4A match-ups will highlight the baseball play for the Gentry High Rams during this coming week’s play.
Owning a 4-3, 1-0 record going into Wednesday night’s home-field regional clash against Clarksdale High School, the Rams will travel to Clarksdale this Friday for a 5 p.m. game to wrap up the series with the Wildcats.
Wednesday night’s results were unavailable at press-time.
Other impending action for Gentry Head Coach Timothy Holmes’ squad includes a trip this Saturday to Hollandale Simmons High School. First pitch of this non-regional game against the Blue Devils is slated to be thrown at 11 a.m.
A return to regional play then occurs next Tuesday when the Rams travel to Tunica Rosa Fort High for a 5 p.m. game with the Lions.
As for the Rams’ other play this past week, a trip to Vicksburg High last Saturday did not fare well.
Suffering a 14-4 five inning loss, the Rams were limited to a pair of singles by the Gators’ pitching staff.
Accounting for those hits were Tykereus Potts and Maleek Galvin; an offensive attack which could not overcome the 9-4 lead the Vicksburg squad owned by the third inning of the game.
