They have now picked up two consecutive first District 2-3A victories.
With those wins now in hand, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels will continue their five game string of district games this Friday when they travel to Carroll Academy.
However, this upcoming 6 p.m. tip-off represents the only play date for the Lady Colonels for the next six days.
Now owning an 8-10, 2-2 record, the IA squad’s next contest will be a January 23 trip to Central Holmes Christian School in Lexington.
In their most recent play Tuesday night, the Lady Colonels claimed a 26-20 victory over Winona Christian School.
Key to claiming this win was staunch defense by the IA squad; an effort which limited the Lady Stars to single digit scoring in each quarter of the game.
Leading the scoring for IA were a pair of seniors. While Jill Roberts posted eight points on the scoreboard, Lizzy Smith was close behind with her seven point night of play.
Other previous action included a 41-35 Tuesday night decision over visiting Central Holmes Christian School.
A 16-12 halftime lead proved to be valuable to the IA squad in this game as the team from Lexington battled back in the second half of the game.
However, the Lady Colonels withstood the charge by outscoring their competition 25-23 to help earn the six point victory.
While Mattie Beth Williamson paced the IA scoring with her 13 point game, an outstanding double double was recorded by Roberts.
The senior would grab an impressive 23 rebounds in the game while registering 11 points on the IA side of the scoreboard.
