After their most recent play helped keep their District 1AAA basketball record spotless, the upcoming week of basketball action will be a busy period of time for the Indianola Academy Colonels.
Owning a 7-7, 5-0 record following victories last week over Kirk Academy of Grenada and North Delta School of Batesville, the Colonels will travel to Lee Academy of Clarksdale today.
This district clash will precede a Friday visit to Pillow Academy in Greenwood for a non-district meeting with the Mustangs.
However, a return to district play will occur next Tuesday when Bayou Academy of Cleveland comes to the IA gym.
All games this next week are scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m.
In addition to their Tuesday night, 55-36 win over North Delta School in Batesville, last Thursday on their own court the Colonels claimed a 44-43 victory over Kirk Academy of Grenada.
Although owning a 35-26 lead after three quarters of play, the Colonels were required to withstand a 17-9 scoring flurry by the Raiders to escape with the win.
Leading the scoring for IA in this game was Stefon Smith with 21 points while DeDe Willis added another 13 points to the Colonels’ side of the scoreboard.
