An attempt to get back into the win column, especially when concerning divisional play, is top priority for the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels soccer team.
After suffering a bitter Tuesday evening 3-2 loss to visiting Kirk Academy of Grenada, the now 2-3-2 Lady Colonels will travel to Columbus Christian School next Monday.
While game time for this match is scheduled for 5 p.m., next Wednesday will find Manchester Academy of Yazoo City visiting the IA field.
Scheduled to begin at 4 p.m., this final home-field match will also be used to honor this year’s seniors.
In Tuesday evening’s loss to Kirk Academy, the Lady Colonels scored the first goal of the match when an Emma Kate MacLeod pass helped set up a Hannah Aycock kick into the net.
Although the Lady Raiders answered moments later with their own goal, Fran Veazey would out-duel a knot of players and send another IA goal into the Kirk Academy net.
Unfortunately, this goal was scored with nine minutes remaining in the half and would prove to be the final goal of the day for the Lady Colonels.
While the Lady Colonels were plagued by missed scoring opportunities, the Lady Raiders would score a pair of goals in the second half of the match to escape town with the divisional victory.
