There are times when one must forget the past and move on.
Although a disastrous first inning led to a District 2-3A loss Tuesday night at Chism Park, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels must turn their focus on the future.
That’s because an extremely important week of fastpitch softball has arrived.
With three consecutive District 2-3A games to play within the next six days, the Indianola Academy Lady
Colonels are hoping to begin peaking at the right time of the season.
Owning an 8-8, 2-2 record following Tuesday evenings’ 11-1 loss to visiting district foe Central Holmes
Christian School of Lexington, the IA squad returns to Chism Park again today.
On this occasion, a 6 p.m. first pitch will be made against Briarfield Academy of Lake Providence,
Louisiana.
Bringing a strong team to town, the visiting Rebels will be facing a Lady Colonels squad bent on avenging
their 7-2 loss suffered to the team from across the Mississippi River 13 days ago.
Additional IA district action occurs next Monday with a trip to Winona Christian School while next
Tuesday brings the Lady Colonels back to Chism Park to take on Carroll Academy.
Both contests are tentatively slated to begin at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, in Tuesday’s loss to a talented Central Holmes Christian School club, the Lady Colonels
suffered a plethora of errors in the first inning.
With three Trojan hits added in, the visitors jumped to an 8-0 lead.
This deficit proved to be too much to overcome despite the Lady Colonels settling down the balance of
the game.
The Lady Colonels’ efforts at the plate could only muster a single apiece by Mattie Beth Williamson and
Lily Putnam (RBI) in the contest.
